If you would like to visit Highbury Primary School before completing your application, we have the following school tours available on the attached flyer.

Entry to the Reception in September 2026

National offer day for entry to Highbury Reception classes in September 2026 will be Wednesday 15th April. Further information will follow with details concerning transition information.

For our children starting new to Early Years, the Department for Education (DfE) has published a new guide for parents called "What to Expect in the Early Years Foundation Stage" - this guides parents through what to expect with their child’s development and the guide can be found below should you wish to read a copy:

Welcome meeting for parents and carers - details to follow

This will be an in-person meeting in the school hall, and there will be an opportunity to be introduced to the staff, information about starting school, the Early Years Curriculum and an introduction to school life at Highbury.  We believe this is an important meeting to establish great relationships and build a strong partnership between home and school.  This will also be a chance to share relevant information to ensure those first few weeks for your child will be a positive and exciting experience.

Transition visits

Transitioning to Primary School is an exciting time, but for some it can be quite daunting, which is why we go to great lengths to ensure we have good communication with the setting the children are coming from and that parents have had lots of opportunities to become familiar with us.  Further information will follow to ensure a smooth process.
